Fire in the Heartland | American Cowboy Magazine

March 18, 2017

This video project was a documentary created for American Cowboy Magazine in partnership with Cinch Jeans. In March 2017, wildfires swept through Texas, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Colorado, leaving a path of tragedy and devastation in their wake. The fires claimed seven human lives, burned more than 1 million acres, and killed an untold number of cattle. In the face of adversity, however, the ranching community came together in incredible and inspiring ways. I was hired as Cinematographer to chase this story with American Cowboy Magazine editor and producer Bob Welch and I filmed the project on the Sony FS7 and DJI Phantom 3.

Sports Car Club of America | Denver Colorado

May 6, 2014

This was a shoot for the Sports Car Club of America at High Plains Raceway, a road racing facility located near Denver. I documented the Colorado division of the SCCA Majors Race Tour. The SCCA Majors is a championship motorsport race series that spans across North America and features several car classifications. My coverage at High Plains Raceway was focused for the Formula Race Cars. Formula racing is cars are single-seat, open wheel racecars that have incredible power to weight ratios. The cinematography challenges on this project were finding the best positioning on the track. Often the best locations to shoot are also the most dangerous to stand, so I had to keep that in mind when setting up my shots. Pulling focus on these racecars driving in excess of 120MPH is also no easy task. I was operating the Sony FS700 Camera while on this assignment, shooting mostly high frame rates on telephoto lenses.
